Prerequisites:
- Have activated Android smartphone.
- Know the basics of unlocking the phone.
- The phone should be less than 6 years old.
- Attended Android Smartphone Basics class or have equivalent skill level.
Objectives:
- Add, save, and edit contacts.
- Learn to access voice mail.
- Manage In Case of Emergency (ICE) information.
- Make, answer, merge calls, video calls and customize ringtones.
- Send basic and group text messages and attach photos/files.
- Enter and edit events and notifications in the Google Calendar app.
- Add invites to events and sync with other devices.
Description:
The Android Smartphone Operations course is designed to teach the use and management of vital features on Android devices, specifically focusing on Android 14 for the Samsung S21 Ultra and OnePlus 7T. The curriculum addresses the potential differences in interfaces across various devices and carriers, encompassing these main topics:
1. Contacts Management
- Adding and Saving Contacts: Instructions on adding new contacts, choosing storage accounts (Google, Microsoft Exchange, etc.), and syncing contacts.
- Editing and Deleting Contacts: Guidelines for modifying or removing contacts.
- Favorites and Groups: How to organize contacts you frequently interact with.
- Emergency Contacts (ICE): The process for entering emergency contacts and health information accessible from a locked device.
2. Telephone Functions
- Making Calls: How to place calls using the dialer, contacts, or call logs, and the features of multi-party calls.
- Answering and Declining Calls: Techniques for managing incoming calls and dismissing calls with preset messages.
- In-Call Actions: Methods for adjusting volume, switching to speaker or Bluetooth devices, and viewing call logs.
3. Messaging
- Texting: Sending SMS, group texts, and attaching media like photos and files.
- Messaging App Interface: Maneuvering through the inbox and utilizing features for attachments and conversation-specific actions.
4. Calendar
- Creating and Managing Events: Adding events, setting alerts, modifying times, syncing with calendars like Google or Microsoft Exchange, and sending invites.
- Editing and Deleting Events: How to alter or remove calendar events.
- Calendar Views: How to switch between day, week, and month views for better planning and organization.
The course wraps up with an invitation to provide feedback on the club's website to enhance future offerings.
