ANDROID SMARTPHONE BASICS

Prerequisites:
  • Have activated Android smartphone.
  • Know the basics of unlocking the phone.
  • No prior knowledge required.
  • The phone should be less than 6 years old. 

Objectives:
  1. Understand hardware keys and layout.
  2. Perform various touchscreen actions.
  3. Customize home screen settings.
  4. Navigate menus, options, and context pop-ups.
  5. Enter text using the keyboard, microphone, and predictive text features.
  6. Use the Google Play Store effectively.

Description:

This introductory course offers a clear overview of Android smartphone basics. It is designed for users with Android versions 11 to 14 and works with many devices, especially Samsung Galaxy models. Taking all the Android classes is recommended to gain full knowledge of your smartphone.

The course covers seven main topics:

  1. Hardware Components: Learn about the physical buttons and keys on Android phones and their functions, with special focus on Samsung Galaxy devices.
  2. Basic Setup: Step-by-step guide to connect your phone to WiFi networks, both private and public.
  3. Touch Screen Navigation: Understand common gestures like tapping, holding, dragging, swiping, pinching, and how to rotate your screen.
  4. Home Screen Management: How to arrange icons, add widgets, manage notifications, and read the status bar.
  5. Menu Systems: Learn about different menus (options and context) and how to use them in apps.
  6. Text Input Methods: Explore how to use the keyboard, including predictive text, auto-correction, and voice input.
  7. App Management: How to find, install, and manage apps through the Google Play Store, plus setting up your account safely.

The course notes differences between brands and carriers but focuses on the essential Android features. Hands-on exercises and demonstrations are included, with tips on security and best device practices.
